There’s nothing quite like dining at one of those great American diners in northeast America. These are no nonsense kinds of places featuring distinctive checkered tiled floors, bright red booth seating, and plenty of duke boxes. Here, you can be guaranteed of fast, hearty American food that will fill you up, a casual and down-to-earth atmosphere, and attentive service.
You know the drill: you’re greeted by a friendly waitress in a white apron who shows you to your cozy table by the window. You open up the sturdy leather menu covers to find a veritable novel of a menu inside, and it’s so hard to decide what to choose. A cheeseburger deluxe, eggs, bacon and sausages, or maybe a hog dog and fries? Or maybe a steak sandwich, a Cobb salad, waffles, or French toast?
While you’re deciding, the waitress brings you a cup of coffee. You order, then sit back and just enjoy the fact you’re in a diner. Perhaps you feed the duke box some money. Your food arrives, and is placed before you on the table: no leather placemats, no cloth napkins, no frills. It’s delicious, and you’re content.
