What You Saw, From Your Desk Blotter

desk blotterOn the road again, seeing things I’ve never seen before and may never see again, and I can’t wait to get on the road again.

Such are my feelings when I am staying in a hotel, drinking from plastic cups and refilling plastic ice buckets. It’s all so vibrant and new, because I have to focus on what to do next, what to see and explore.

I don’t want to worry about anything –it’ll all happen as it happens. That takes away the possibility of misfortune, which can always ruin a day if you aren’t calm by taking deep breaths.

When on the road, living in hotels, writing on desk blotters, it’s not a good idea to get into a routine if you’re staying somewhere for less than a week. If you’re staying somewhere for more than a week, it’s okay, as long as the routine doesn’t consist of staying up late, and sleeping the day away hungover. I mean more like going to the same cafe every day, that’s okay–if you’re staying somewhere for longer than a week.

Otherwise, relax in your hotel room, make some coffee, and on your desk blotter write a little about what you saw yesterday. You may never see it again.
